Went back after years to see what this salon was like. Made an appointment with Tyler 5 days in advance. When I got there a very nice lady named Wanda washed my hair. Tyler introduced herself and said she would be with me shortly. After a while Wanda started cutting my hair. I noticed Tyler was still with another customer and a friend ,as they were all talking in there own group conversation. I was wondering why after making this appointment with Tyler ,why she was not cutting my hair. Wanda was very nice but this whole experience made me feel very strange. I don't think I will go back. The whole thing was very unprofessional.
I used to like this salon. I had been a loyal customer of The Hair Place in Colonia for over 16 years. I have been through several personnel changes, and was seeing Sherry (the owner's daughter-in-law) to do my hair for over a year or so. I felt that we had reached a certain understanding and rapport - but I was WRONG!!! I went for a cut and perm, but was told to return after I had colored my hair (I do my own). So as not to waste the appointment, Sherry cut my hair and charged me accordingly. Ten days later, I returned for the perm. Sherry did the perm, but took out her scissors after, saying it was just a "dusting". I assumed that it was to even out any ends that remained after she was finished with the perm. WRONG! She charged me for another entire cut as well as the perm. She then proceeded to loudly embarrass me in front of other customers and staff when I questioned the extra charge. Not a very professional action. I called and left a message for her husband (Rob) who had previously done my hair, but I never got a response. No apology, no nothing! I thought that The Hair Place was still a friendly local shop. WRONG AGAIN!!!
The Hair Place has been a family operated salon for about 59 years and gives quality haircuts at affordable prices. We are saddened to hear the negativity due to a single situation involving one client. The price she was to pay for a perm and haircut, was made very clear to her, prior to the services being rendered. Unfortunately, there are people in this world that will try to get over on paying their bills.

I started coming to the Hair Place in August of 2016 when Melinda and Heather Sunshine joined this amazing crew. I have never felt so welcomed and cared for like I do at this salon. Everyone is amazing and prices are great. Sheri is one of the most caring owners and takes such pride in her salon. Her niece , The manager Tyler is just the sweetest and cares like it's her own business. I have referred several people that are now all hooked! Well done hair place!!!
